UGL secures Gorgon, Wheatstone Contracts (Oil & Gas today)

UGL has won a number of maintenance, turnarounds and project services contracts for its Western Australian and Victorian clients within the oil and gas sector.

The contracts, which are worth around $450 million in revenue to UGL will be executed over a multiple-year period.

UGL will deliver mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and access services, including plant turnaround and brownfield execution services at the Chevron-operated Gorgon and Wheatstone facilities in Western Australia.

The Gorgon project, which is within the North Carnarvon Basin near Barrow Island offshore Western Australia’s Pilbara region, is one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, with the capacity to supply Western Australia with 300 terajoules of gas per day.

Wheatstone is in the Carnarvon Basin and was Australia’s first LNG hub, with two LNG trains that have a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum, as well as a domestic gas plant.

This will support ongoing employment for a 1000-personnel strong workforce and provide new upskilling and apprenticeship opportunities.

UGL will also complete extension of integrated services for structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation for more existing oil and gas clients in Western Australia and Victoria.

“We are proud of our close working partnerships with leaders in the oil and gas sector in Australia,” UGL managing director Jason Spears said.

“These contracts reflect UGL’s reputation for strong performance and safe delivery of maintenance and shutdown services.”

UGL, which is owned by construction, mining, services and public private partnerships company the CIMIC Group, is a renowned services provider across sectors including resources, power, transport, water, defence and security and social infrastructure.

Its past oil and gas projects include the Santos Gladstone and Australia Pacific Liquefied LNG facilities off the Queensland coast.

We look forward to working with you.
